You will be advised to arrive in Los Angeles 1 day before your procedure. If scheduling permits, you will see Dr. Holmes in the office the afternoon before your procedure or on the same day immediately before the procedure. During this initial appointment, breast examination will be performed and breast and lymph node ultrasound will be repeated by Dr. Holmes. He will also review the treatment plan, discuss the informed consent form, and answer questions remaining questions.
In some cases, it will be necessary for you to arrive a day earlier or stay a little longer if you have agreed to undergo an additional radiology procedure here in Los Angeles. Examples of additional procedure include additional breast imaging, placement of an ultrasound visible marker to facilitate cryoablation, or a lymph node biopsy if it is needed to complete staging or treatment of your breast cancer.
Out of town patients will be scheduled for a follow-up visit in the office the morning after the cryoablation procedure. After this appointment, you'll be free to fly or drive home. A virtual (phone call or video) follow-up appointment will be scheduled with Dr. Holmes 1-2 weeks later.
